The World Blind Union, with the support of Brazil’s National Technical-Scientific Committee, reaffirms its commitment to the collective and diverse construction of knowledge about visual impairment with this public call for poster presentation proposals. This initiative aligns with the collaborative spirit of the 11th World Blindness Summit and the principles of the World Blind Union, promoting not only accessibility and inclusion but also epistemic justice and recognition of the global diversity of knowledge. 

Timeline – POSTER SUBMISSION 

Submission period: June 25 to July 20, 2025 (until 11:59 PM – Brazil time)  

Review period: June 25 to July 27, 2025  

Submissions will be accepted exclusively via email: send the proposal in Word format (see the Template Text Poster World Encounter file) to poster@mundialdadeficienciavisual.com.br in 2 versions – one identified and one anonymous. 

Example: TOPIC-COUNTRY-IDENTIFIED VERSION (EM-BRAZIL-JOHN DOE), TOPIC-COUNTRY-ANONYMOUS VERSION (EM-BRAZIL)Acceptance will be sent by the above email.

POSTER – Guidelines and Rules 

  1. Submissions may present results from scientific research, educational projects, or practical experience reports related to people with visual impairments, with or without additional disabilities. For works involving human participants, ethical committee approval number must be provided. Plagiarism or unreferenced excerpts from other authors will not be accepted. 
  1. Posters will be accepted in Portuguese, English, Spanish, or French. The content and descriptions of images, graphs, tables, and diagrams must be available via a QR code in the same language as the poster. 
  1. Proposals will be reviewed by members of the National Technical-Scientific Committee. 
  1. Upon acceptance, the lead author must confirm their participation in the poster exhibition by sending proof of registration payment within 48 hours. 
  1. During the exhibition, authors are encouraged to be available to discuss their work with attendees. 
  1. Works must follow APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition, 2019 formatting guidelines:

  1. Evaluation criteria include: Relevance, Clarity/Quality, Originality/Added Value, Geographic Representation, and Applicant Distribution.

  1. Authors are responsible for creating and bringing their posters to the event, displaying them in the designated area, and removing them after the exhibition. Poster locations will be identified by numbers published in the presentation list on the event website.

 

We invite all interested individuals to share their knowledge, experiences, and practices in the field of visual impairment, contributing to a collective and international construction of knowledge. The 11th World Blindness Summit is an open space for diverse perspectives and cross-cultural exchange.
