- Some participants may also stay at the Paralympic Center (Rodovia dos Imigrantes, km 11,5, São Paulo, SP, CEP 04329-000); however, these rooms are reserved for sponsored attendees and may not be booked through the online registration process.

Who can participate?
Blind and partially sighted individuals, their families, educators, professionals in habilitation, rehabilitation, inclusion, accessibility, advocacy, and society at large.
Who organizes the World Blindness Summit?
The event is organized by the World Blind Union (WBU) and the National Organization of the Blind of Brazil (ONCB), in partnership with the Brazilian Paralympic Committee and the Brazilian Confederation of Sports for the Blind.
What is the World Blindness Summit?
The World Blindness Summit is a global forum where advocates, experts, and leaders come together to explore the most pressing issues affecting blind and partially sighted people around the world.
What is the WBU General Assembly?
The General Assembly is the decision-making body of the World Blind Union. It includes elections, constitutional matters, and discussions to shape the organization’s priorities for the next four years.
Do I need to register separately for the General Assembly?
No. This is a single event divided into two parts. One registration fee covers both the Summit and the General Assembly.
What is the International Assistive Technology Fair?
The International Assistive Technology Fair is an exhibition where companies and organizations showcase products and services aimed at promoting independence, inclusion, and accessibility for blind and partially sighted individuals.
What is the schedule for the week-long event?
- September 1: Opening Ceremony (evening, ~6:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
- September 2–3: World Blindness Summit (8:30 am to 5:30 pm)
- September 3: Gala Dinner (evening, ~7:00 pm to 9:00 pm)
- September 4–5: WBU General Assembly (8:30 am to 5:30 pm)
- September 5: Closing Reception (evening, ~6:00 pm to 8:00 pm)

What is the cost to attend the event?
Costs vary depending on when you register, participant type, number of hotel nights, and participation in the Gala Dinner. Additionally, Brazilian participants benefit from reduced prices thanks to local partnerships and sponsorships.

What is the deadline for registering for the event?
- The last day to register is August 15th. Registration on site at the event will not be possible.
What is included in the registration fee?

Can I get a reduced fee if I only attend part of the event?
No. This is a single event with one registration fee that covers all components.
I am unable to pay the registration fee. Are there sponsorships available?
Sponsorship is limited to WBU delegates from developing countries. Please contact GA2025@wbu.ngo for information on sponsorships.
Can I stay in another hotel, with friends, or at different accommodations?
Yes. Staying at the official hotel is not mandatory, but it is recommended for convenience, accessibility, and proximity to the venue. Please note the Paralympic Center is reserved for sponsored attendees and cannot be booked online.
What happens if I select double room and my intended roommate does not register?
If a second person does not input your code in the roommate field, then you will be automatically assigned to share a room with another person of the same gender.
Do I need a visa to travel to Brazil?
Visa requirements vary by country. Please check with your local Brazilian consulate or embassy as early as possible.
Will someone assist me at the airport?
Yes, volunteers and host representatives will be available for WBU delegates at the airport during peak arrival times.
Is airport transportation provided?
Yes, transportation for WBU delegates to and from the airport will be provided.
Is transportation provided between the hotel and the venue?
Yes, accessible shuttles will run between the Paralympic Center and the Anhembi Convention Center. The Holiday Inn is a short walk from the venue, and assistance will be available if needed.
What is the dress code for the event?
Business casual is recommended. You may wish to dress more formally for the Gala Dinner.
What is the Gala Dinner?
The Gala Dinner is a special celebration taking place at Hotel Unique, one of Brazil’s most luxurious hotels. Tickets must be purchased in advance through the official registration platform. Tickets will not be sold separately later.
Will there be volunteers available to help during the event?
Yes, volunteers will be available to assist participants who require support.
Will interpretation or translation be available in other languages?
Yes, simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
Will there be a quiet room or sensory-friendly space?
Yes, a designated quiet area will be available for attendees who need a calm space.
Will meals be provided during the event?

What currency is used in Brazil?
The official currency is the Brazilian Real (BRL or R$).
Where can I find foreign currency exchanges?
Currency exchange services are available at the airport, as well as at banks and exchange bureaus in the city. ATMs are widely available.
What is a WBU Delegate?
A WBU Delegate is a person officially appointed by a WBU member organization. Delegates are entitled to vote and participate in decision-making during the WBU General Assembly.
Is there a virtual option for attending?
Some parts of the event will be streamed online, but full participation requires in-person attendance.
What happens if I can’t attend the event?
Once payment is made, cancellations will not be possible, except in cases of visa denial. Refunds will only be processed upon submission of the visa refusal document. Please ensure all information is correct and that you will be able to attend the event.

How do I request a letter to obtain a Brazilian visa?
If you need a letter justifying your stay in Brazil to apply for a visa, fill out the form available at this link: https://forms.gle/G9iE7cbbJbMwCQSb9
The letter will be generated automatically and sent to your email.
How do I get help with my visa?
The organization requests that individuals or groups who are facing real difficulties with embassies or consulates send us a letter containing the following information:

Full name;

Passport number;

Name and location of the embassy or consulate where the difficulty was registered;

Detailed report of the situation faced.

The information gathered will be forwarded to the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the aim of seeking solutions and institutional support.

The messages received will be systematized in a spreadsheet and forwarded for the appropriate support measures.
How to book accommodation?
The official hotel reserved by the event organizers is sold out. You can still book directly with Holiday Inn or choose another accommodation in São Paulo.
